Hailing from Bhyandar, Mumbai with a mere family income of 7500 rupees a month, Santosh Haldankar is solely responsible for supporting his unemployed wife and daughter studying in the 11th standard. From what began as a diagnosis of severe anemia, in January of 2021, Santosh’s routine blood tests revealed low hemoglobin and a low platelet count. After further investigation of Santosh’s bone marrow through a scan and biopsy, Santosh was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Santosh was immediately directed to the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai for further treatment. After arranging money through personal savings and taking loans from family friends and relatives, Rs. 3,00,000 has already been spent in the intensive phase of Santosh’s treatment. In order to complete his treatment, Santosh is in need of Rs. 6,00,000. Once treated completely, Santosh hopes to return home and support his daughter in pursuing a further education.
