From what started as a mere fever, body ache and weakness, Mangal was taken to her local doctor in Solapur, Maharashtra for a routine checkup. After being investigated, Mangal’s results showed low hemoglobin and a low platelet count. She was immediately treated with a blood transfusion; however, this did not help her condition. After being moved to a hospital in Sangi to further manage her condition, Mangal was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Due to financial constraints, Mangal was referred to the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. Once re-evaluated, Mangal was given an estimation of Rs. 6,50,000 to complete her treatment. Woefully, sustaining a living off of Rs. 3,000 a month was difficult enough for Mangal, her husband and her two children to make ends meet. Having already spent Rs. 1,50,000, arranged from friends and family, Mangal and her family have exhausted all of their funds. In order to complete her treatment and return home, Mangal is in need of Rs. 6,50,000. Upon completion of her treatment, Mangal wishes to be reunited with her family and support her son in pursuing a further education.
