Arun Kumar Das, a 31-year-old tailor residing from Kolkata, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. Responsible for his unemployed wife, five-year-old son and both parents, Arun refrained from going to the doctor until July of 2019. When Arun’s fever and body ache became unbearable, Arun visited the local doctor. After routine investigations, Arun’s results showed a low haemoglobin and platelet count. He was then advised to go to the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai for further management.
Upon arrival, Arun was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. His family, having already sold the entirety of their land and taken a loan from family friends and relatives, had exhausted the entirety of their funds after spending Rs. 50,000 on the intensive phase of Arun’s treatment. In order for Arun to return to his home and complete the remainder of his treatment, Arun is in need of an additional Rs. 6,00,000. Upon completion, Arun wishes to spend more time with his aged mother and father and continue to play a pivotal role in his five-year-old son’s life.
