Hailing from Darjeeling, West Bengal with a mere income of approximately 3000 rupees a month, Madhu Debnath is responsible for supporting his elderly parents, his wife, two children and treatment for his recent diagnosis. From what had seemed to be simply abdominal pain that could be resolved easily through painkillers, instead, turned out to be a lengthy treatment revealing Carcinoma of the Colon.
Debnath sought for a more effective treatment far from his hometown at the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. After arranging money through selling the sole source of income in his household, their two cows, and removing his children from the expenses of education, Rs. 1,20,000 has already been spent for the intensive phase of his treatment.
Unfortunately, the intensive phase of his treatment, which involved a surgery, resulted in the reoccurrence of cancer in the same place. In order to complete his treatment and return to his responsibilities in Darjeeling, Debnath is in need of Rs 60,000. Once treated completely, Debnath wishes to find a new source of income in order to resume educating his children.
